Industry-leading marine electronics brands Lowrance, Eagle and Simrad are now being distributed by Navico Inc.*, a division of the new global parent company.

Navico Inc. is launched as one of the world’s largest marine electronics companies, following Norwegian investment company Altor’s recent acquisition of Lowrance Electronics Inc. and subsequent merger with Simrad Yachting AS. The resultant international company has approximately 2500 employees worldwide.

Navico Inc. general manager Todd Moore said through the merger the company would be able to take advantage of considerable synergies in research and development, production, marketing and sales on a global basis.

'This is the biggest thing to happen in marine electronics in Australia – and, indeed, the world – making us an even stronger competitor in an ever more competitive and global industry,' Todd said.

'On a local level, as Navico is located on the Queensland / New South Wales border – in the heart of Australia’s boat-building Mecca and so close to many of this country’s major players – we’ll be able to serve the industry in a way never before experienced.

'We’re operating in a full stock, full service role providing manufacturers, dealers and consumers alike with superior service and support in a very timely and flexible manner.'

Among other responsibilities in his new role, Todd will focus heavily on growing Simrad Yachting products in Australia.

'Simrad products will now receive the attention they deserve, riding on the back of the superb reputations Lowrance and Eagle have here – a result not only of quality products, but of the exceptional service we’ve always provided retailers and consumers,' he said.

'We’re also calling on existing Simrad customers to look to Navico for all of their marine electronics requirements – we have the knowledge, the reputation and the proven ability to get the job done.'

With the addition of a new brand to the company’s portfolio, Scott Amon has been appointed Lowrance/Eagle national sales and marketing manager. Scott’s new role within the company is an expansion of his previous regional sales management and associated marketing activities for the brands.

*Navico Inc. is also responsible for the development, production and international marketing and distribution of B&G yachting electronics, although the brand won’t be handled by Navico Inc. in Australia. At this stage, Navico Inc. also won’t handle Simrad in Queensland and Northern Territory.
