A smartly played entry into the Malacca Strait paid off and it's a four-way heat for second place as the gauntlet run to Singapore begins, with weather, ships, fishing nets and other obstacles threatening to play a major part in the segment. Today, he reviews the third week of action in Leg 3 – Bouncing into the Roulette Wheel

We left the fleet a week ago, headed across the Bay of Bengal to the northern entrance into the Malacca Straits… and an uncertain future. A windless hole of low pressure was opening up in their path. A parking lot the size of a small country was forecast to hinder progress for at least the next couple of days, before the north-east monsoon re-established and sent them on their way to Sumatra. We have watched this play out over the past week, accompanied by messages from onboard of desperation and philosophical resignation in more or less equal measures.
