by Cape 31 Class 11 May 11:14 PDT 9-11 May 2025

Shotgunn Dominates in a Thrilling MED Season Opener

The opening round of the 2025 Cape 31 Med Circuit concluded this weekend in Hyères with three spectacular days of one-design racing, showcasing tight competition, a growing international fleet, and a full range of Mediterranean conditions.

The event began with light winds delaying racing on Day 1, but a solid afternoon breeze allowed the fleet to complete three races. Adrenalin (Darren Wright), Give Me Five (Adrien Follin), and Shotgunn (Michael Wilson) each took a win, while new teams Terrible Joy, Stig, and K Force Jr. made strong debuts on the circuit.

Day 2 delivered classic Côte d'Azur conditions—clear skies, sunshine, and a steady breeze. Shotgunn turned on the speed with wins in Races 4 and 6, while Give Me Five took Race 5. Also reaching the podium were Motions, La Pericolosa, and Stig, showing depth and talent across the fleet.

The final day brought the most breeze of the weekend, with 15-20 knots in the first two races before easing off during the final race as rain moved in. Motions, Give Me Five, and Stig each earned race wins, but it was Shotgunn who claimed the overall regatta victory with a race to spare thanks to consistently strong results throughout the weekend.

The Cape 31 Class thanks COYCH, the race committee, volunteers, and all partners—especially Class Partner North Sails and our preferred suppliers—for supporting a world-class Circuit.

Next Stop: Porquerolles Race - June 2025

The Cape 31 Med Circuit continues in a few weeks at the prestigious Porquerolles Race, where the fleet will grow to 15 teams. Among them will be international contenders Warrior One and Pacific Yankee arriving from the U.S., alongside returning Med Circuit teams Black Star, Black Seal, Black Battalion, and Stella Maris. Two new teams, Firstings and Kalantis, will also join the lineup.

With top-tier competition and a vibrant social atmosphere, the Cape 31 Med Circuit is quickly becoming one of the most exciting one-design series in the world!
