The highly anticipated Dragon World Championship by Tivoli Hotels & Resorts officially sets sail today in the stunning waters of Vilamoura. Over the next six days, this prestigious event will bring together 50 boats and 160 sailors representing 17 countries, all competing for the world title in one of the most iconic and competitive keelboat classes in the world.

Hosted at Vilamoura Sailing, a world-class venue renowned for its exceptional conditions and hospitality, the championship promises a thrilling display of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship. With a rich legacy dating back nearly a century, the Dragon class continues to attract elite sailors and sailing legends, combining tradition with top-level performance.

This year's edition, proudly sponsored by Tivoli Hotels & Resorts, reflects the synergy between luxury hospitality and high-performance sport. The partnership adds an elevated experience both on and off the water, reinforcing Vilamoura's status as a premium sailing destination.

"Hosting the Dragon World Championship is not only an honour for Vilamoura, but a testament to our commitment to delivering world-class sailing experiences," said Nuno Reis, CEO of Prow Group. "Bringing together the best sailors from around the globe in such an iconic class, in partnership with Marina de Vilamoura and a brand like Tivoli Hotels & Resorts, allows us to elevate both the sporting and cultural value of this event. It's a powerful moment for sailing in Portugal and for the legacy we're building here in Vilamoura. Beyond the competition, we are creating an unforgettable experience not only for the sailors, but also for their families — who are an essential part of the journey."

Daily races will unfold against the Algarve coastline, with sailors battling varying wind and sea conditions that will test their skill and endurance. Off the water, a carefully curated programme of social moments, local discovery, and premium hospitality will ensure that both sailors and their families enjoy a rich, memorable stay in Vilamoura.

The Dragon World Championship by Tivoli Hotels & Resorts is more than a race—it is a celebration of heritage, excellence, and the vibrant spirit of sailing.
