Team Hollywood & Alive trade honours on windy second day of 23rd Samui Regatta. The wind certainly did come out to play today, allowing Race Officer Simon James to stage two races in the 23rd Samui Regatta.

Ray Roberts and his crew on Team Hollywood (TP52) took the initial windward-leeward race by 00:02:43 on corrected time over Duncan Hine’s Reichel/Pugh 66 Alive. Alive was first across the line with an elapsed time of 00:33:18, a couple of minutes ahead of Team Hollywood. Terry Foster’s Iolanthe 3 (A35) was fourth on elapsed time, but when handicaps were applied, they finished third just over three minutes ahead of the Aftershock Syndicate's Aftershock, a Davidson 55.

Under beautiful sunny skies with the wind gusting up to 15 kts, the sailors then headed north of the island towards Koh Phangan for the second race of the day. With the tropical beauty of Koh Samui in the background, the competitors set out on a coastal course passing Koh Kong OK (Group) to port, then rounding the Haad Rin buoy to port, crossing the channel between Koh Phangan and Samui to round a buoy off Menam to port, finally rounding Koh Kong OK (Group) to starboard before heading to the finish.

After 2 hours racing, Alive crossed the line first (01:56:15) and also took victory on corrected time, finishing just over three minutes ahead of Team Hollywood. Terry Foster’s Iolanthe 3 repeated its feat from the earlier race, finishing fourth again on elapsed time but finishing third overall on corrected time over Aftershock.
