The 23rd Samui Regatta officially opened on 24 May 2026 on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, welcoming international sailing teams, sponsors, tourism partners, and visitors from around the world.

Running until 30 May 2026, the regatta remains one of Asia’s leading sailing events and the only multi-class regatta in the Gulf of Thailand. The event combines competitive racing with tourism, sport, and premium island lifestyle experiences in one of the region’s most iconic destinations.

This year’s regatta welcomes more than 200 participants, including sailors and supporters from Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe and South East Asia. All teams will compete across five days of racing featuring both windward-leeward and coastal courses set against the stunning backdrop of Koh Samui.

The event also reinforces Koh Samui’s growing reputation as a destination offering a unique blend of sport, wellness, gastronomy, beach life, and authentic local culture.

Mr. Klanarong Yutitham, Vice Governor of Surat Thani Province, who presided over the opening ceremony, said: “The Samui Regatta continues to play an important role in strengthening Koh Samui’s reputation as a world-class marine tourism and international sporting destination, while generating valuable economic and tourism benefits for our local communities. We are pleased to welcome all sailors and crews to our beautiful island.”

Suparerk Thongsuk, President of the Samui Tourism Association added: “The Samui Regatta reflects the growing trend of Experiential Coastal Living, bringing together sport, lifestyle, and travel in one unique experience. As a complete Active Island Lifestyle destination, Koh Samui offers everything from sailing and wellness to beach culture, fine dining, and authentic local experiences, attracting modern travellers from around the world.”

Organised by Regattas Asia in collaboration with tourism and sporting authorities, the regatta continues to support Thailand’s position as a premier destination for marine tourism and international sporting events.

In addition to the racing programme, participants and guests will enjoy a week of social and networking activities, including beachfront gatherings, prize-giving ceremonies, and hospitality events that have become part of the signature Samui Regatta experience.
