The Sint Maarten Yacht Club (SMYC) is thrilled to celebrate the amazing results of its youth sailors at the 2025 Caribbean Dinghy Championship (CDC), hosted by the Antigua Yacht Club from October 24-26. The team showed great spirit and teamwork, finishing second overall in the Nations Cup and earning podium spots in every class they raced.

The Sint Maarten team — Nathan Sheppard, Oskar Jarrett Versteegden, Adilyn Treadwell, Paola Lapierre, Harper Treadwell, and Massimo Lapierre competed in several classes and came home with an impressive list of results:

1st: Optimist Class - Nathan Sheppard
1st: Topper Fusion - Oskar Jarrett Versteegden & Adilyn Treadwell (with Paola Lapierre sailing on Day 1)
3rd: ILCA 4 - Harper Treadwell
3rd: ILCA 6 - Massimo Lapierre

Together, their strong results placed Sint Maarten just behind host nation Antigua & Barbuda, and ahead of teams from Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Grenada, St. Kitts & Nevis, and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

Adding even more adventure, the SMYC team sailed from Sint Maarten to Antigua aboard a monohull, making the trip a great team-building experience and a fun way to put their sailing skills to use before the big event.

"This year's results show how hard our young sailors have worked," said Sam Peeks, SMYC Racing Coach. "We're so proud of how they represented Sint Maarten — not just through their results, but also through their great attitude and sportsmanship."

The Caribbean Dinghy Championship, run by the Caribbean Sailing Association (CSA), brings together teams from across the region for three exciting days of racing and island pride. The Sint Maarten Yacht Club thanks the Antigua Yacht Club and the Caribbean Sailing Association for hosting a fantastic event.
