Allocation of entries for the 29er World Championships 2026 in Kiel

The 29er Class has not restricted entries for the World or European Championships in the past but due to the expected popularity of the Worlds in 2026 in Kiel we feel it is necessary to do an Entry Allocation. This is very difficult to do fairly.

The method we will use, is to take the entries from the World or European Championships 2025 and allocate entries for 2026 on the higher of each country's entries in either of the two Championships in 2025. All countries will be allocated a minimum of three entries. Any country that didn't enter a championship in 2025 can apply for up to three entries in 2026. The host nation will receive 10 entries in addition to their allocated entries. The World Champions in 2025 will receive additional individual entries which may not be transferred to another pairing.

This method will give an entry number of around 320 boats, but some countries may not take up their allocation, reducing this number. The plan is not to offer places that are "turned down" but to stick with the reduced number. This will be over our target of 270 boats, 6 fleets of 45 boats and 3 race areas, but we would accept the slightly increased number of entries. Countries not taking up their allocation will not be permitted to transfer their allocation to another country and are asked to inform the Class that they will not be taking up their allocation. Anyone breaking this rule would be severely punished. The World Sailing rules on nationality will be strictly adhered to.

It will be up to each National Class Association to decide who will represent them at the Kiel World Championships.

Entry for the World Championship will be done using the normal OurClubAdmin entry system, each country will be given entry codes matching their allocation and these codes will enable each team to enter the championship. More details on entering the Worlds will be given nearer the time.

The Entry system for the Worlds will open on 1st February and close on 30th April 2026.

There will be no restriction on entries for the European Championships in Lipno.
