NRV crowned J/70 DSL Cup Champions

Over this past weekend, the DSL Cup took place on Hamburg's Alster Lake with thirteen races run over multiple flights as the teams rotated into each 6-boat flight.

The regatta represented the culmination of the Deutsche Segel-Bundesliga summer-long series that started back last May. As usual, the host for the twenty sailing club teams was the Norddeutshcer Regatta Verein. NRV also ended up winning the regatta sailing on their home waters!

For the winning team of the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (NRV), the target before the races was clear: they want to win the DSL Cup to complete the "trifecta" after winning the SAILING Champions League and the German DSBL Championship. Leon Passlack was nominated as the NRV helmsman, with ex-Olympic athlete Tobias Schadewaldt taking over the tactics.

"With the decision to use Leon alternately with Tobias throughout the season, the NRV was focusing on continuous rejuvenation of the squad and know-how transfer within the successful team," says league organizer Oliver Schwall.

In the end, the formidable talents on the NRV Team set the pace, counting eight 1sts, two 2nds, and 4th for just 16 pts total after the 11 races... a very impressive performance by the local hotshots! Taking the silver medal was Entdecker-und Seefahrerforder Vereinigung with six 1sts, two 2nds, two 3rds, and a 5th for 21 pts total. Then, the final bronze medal on the podium was determined by a tie-breaker at 26 pts each. Winning that incestuous countback was the Flensburger Segel-Club Team 1 over the colleagues Flensburger Segel-Club Allstars!
