With Scrubbis, say goodbye to Speed-Robbing Hull Critters

by Martin Flory Group 24 Mar 2020 08:04 PDT

A shag carpet of algae on the hull is bad enough, but barnacles, mussels, worms and other aquatic organisms rob a boat of its speed potential and are tough to remove. Unless the owner uses the Scrubbis Groovy attachment with the Davis Scrubbis™ Underwater Hull Cleaning Kit from Davis Instruments.

From the dock, deck or dinghy, it's easy to eradicate these tough, pernicious bottom-growing critters to achieve a clean, slick hull that's 30% faster and delivers as much as a 20% fuel savings.

The Scrubbis system is a 1.1-3.2m telescoping handle with a buoyant foam head and curved attachment to clean deep underneath the hull. Ideal for light scum, the head can be reversed to reveal a stiff cleaning fin for a more aggressive scrubbing. The device is slid down against the side and 2kg of flotation brings it back up, removing debris as it does.

For dormant boats that have accumulated serious growth, Scrubbis Groovy will tackle the nastiest of aquatic freeloaders. Easily swapped with the foam head of the Underwater Hull Cleaning Kit, it has rigid fibers that scour away debris for deep cleaning results. While tough on organisms, it won't scratch gelcoat or unduly wear away bottom paint.
