ILCA Senior European Championship 2025 in Marstrand, Sweden - Day 4

by Agustín Argüelles, EurILCA 14 Aug 21:16 PDT 9-16 August 2025

The first day of the Final Series at the 2025 ILCA Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy ended without any racing, as the weather refused to cooperate.

The day began with an early start for the ILCA 6 fleets, launching at 09:30, followed 30 minutes later by the ILCA 7 fleets. By 11:00, competitors were on their racecourses and ready for the opening start of the Finals. Unfortunately, the breeze never built beyond 4–5 knots, and a strong current added further difficulty, making fair racing impossible.

After two hours of patient waiting on the water, the AP over H signal was raised at approximately 13:00, sending all fleets back to shore to await an improvement in conditions. Despite continued monitoring, the wind never filled in sufficiently, and racing was eventually called off for the day.

With no change to the standings, attention now turns to Friday, when the race committee will aim to make the most of the remaining two days of the championship.
