Gul Scorpion National Championship at Llandudno Sailing Club - Day 4

by Steve Walker 31 Jul 2019 10:18 PDT 27 July - 3 August 2019

A walk down the promenade to launch gave an opportunity to show off the the Scorpion to the standing crowds, well maybe the guy and a dog stood in the rain.

Conditions for the day were a good steady wind, with wind over tide waves, giving testing conditions for those who braved out.

Race 7 got under way with a full sausage, triangle, sausage, triangle course. The runs described as hairy, but the Scorpion loves those conditions. There were several capsizes to keep everyone on their toes.

1st Tom Gillard/Rachael Rhodes 2nd Nigel Potter/Simon Hibbert 3rd Steve Walker/Jerry Hannabuss.

Race 8, the wind had increased and so had the waves. A shorter course than previous but large enough for the bar stories to be told.

1st Tom Gillard/Rachael Rhodes 2nd Pete Grey/Richard Pepperdine 3rd Chris Turner/Ollie Fellows.

A big congratulation to Tom Gillard and Rachael Rhodes with today's results gives them the 59th Scorpion National Championship title with a day to spare.

A free pastie and a pint was waiting for each sailor on their return.

A lay evening gives everyone chance to regroup before tomorrow evenings fancy dress party.
