The latest round of the 2016 Midland Optimist Traveller Series at Hollowell SC saw tight competition in a variable Force 1-4.

The shifty conditions were to the liking of Banbury's George Eames Matthews, who counted three bullets to claim his third straight Midlands series victory in a row.

Barnt Green's Charlotte Rocket claimed the other race win from the four-race regatta on Saturday, July 2nd, which added to two seconds saw her finish second overall counting just five points. Third overall with 10 points after a consistent day was Draycote Water's Derin Can Soyer. First Hollowell sailor was Iris Singleton in fourth overall.

Tomorrow, Saturday 9th July, sees the next event in the series - the Midland Area Championships - at Draycote Water SC in Warwickshire. Entry can be made at www.kbsuk.com/optimist/iocamidlands/index.asp?EventID=17 or on the day.
