Morten Albaek, Chief Marketing Officer of Vestas Wind Systems explains why Vestas became involved as the naming sponsor for the seventh Volvo Ocean race entry.

In this video interview Albaek reveals they were approached by Volvo Ocean Race only little more than a month ago

Vestas Wind Systems has been in existence only 25 years and has 16,000 employees. Vestas have installed wind turbines in more than 70 countries and six continents.

The sponsorship of sailing is a logical connection for the company. They already sponsor the Vestas Sail Rocket campaign which holds the world sailing speed record.

Their involvement in the Volvo Ocean Race will also be used as the launchpad for the companies new business strategy
