A Mediterranean legend for sale

Agneta - a Mediterranean dream SW
There's a Mediterranean Legend for sail.

But if you can't come up with the listed 1.45million Euros to own her, then you might like to gloat over the classy, sexy lines of sailing yacht Agneta.

Her most famous owner was Fiat chairman Gianni Agnelli, who died in 2003 at the age of 81, and was sometimes called one of the most stylish men who ever walked the Earth.

Known as an avid playboy and racecar driver, Agnelli was also a keen yachtsman, and enjoyed many years of sailing his Knut Reimer-designed 82-ft. yawl Agneta with its distinctive port-wine colored sails and superb varnished hull, built in 1948.

Now the stylish yacht with its restored Burmese teak deck has been listed for sale in France via global online luxury marketplace JamesList for 1.45 million Euros.

There's a spacious owner's stateroom with marble fireplace with en-suite bathroom two guest cabins with en-suite bathroom.

Then the boat sports separate crew quarters with shower, an aft cabin with chart table and 2 bunks TV, DVD, Sound System

The yacht has been maintained extremely well: The deck is new from 2001: Burma Teak on 100 A4 Marine plywood. All spars are new made from Canadian Silver Spruce: Mainmast in 2004, Mizzenmast and booms 2001, All standing and running rigging new in 2003.

Agneta's History:

Agneta was designed and constructed in 1948 and was launched in 1951. She was not designed to a specific race rule, but all the features of square-meter boats were combined with those of fast ocean racers resulting in a very sleek, well-balanced boat that can travel at speeds of up to 14 knots yet still provide the comfort of a gentleman's luxury yacht.

There is a marble fireplace in the owner's stateroom and in former years she even possessed a bathtub! Mr. Wiberg kept the boat until 1959 when she was purchased by Mr.Gianni Agnelli, who was known to be an admirer of beautiful and fast yachts.

Mr Agnelli took 'Agneta' to The Mediterranean where she still lies, drawing admirers in every harbour she graces, especially in Italy. Giuseppe Antolini, her next owner, had the yawl thoroughly overhauled at Carlini Yard in 1987. Following the wishes of his wife Raffaela, the interior was redesigned and lavishly re-built using rare wood, which gave 'Agneta' the touch of an Italian palazzo. Together with helmsman Flavio Scala, a well-known Italian Olympic sailor, 'Agneta' was a very successful regatta boat.

Her present owner Mr. Peter Engels, purchased 'Agneta' in 1999. He completely refitted the yacht taking into careful consideration her history and original design. He regards his yacht 'Agneta' as a piece of art, a historical monument of classic yacht construction - and look at the saloon...
