Things have been busy in the last month here at Force Racing in getting ready for the Moth Worlds and also on the coaching and coach development front as well.

The journey so far with the Moth has been amazing with a lot of technical development going on and a lot learnt on my end, this isn’t to mention how much has been learnt about apparent wind sailing and changing sailing modes within this type of sailing!

So to get to this stage of readiness for the Worlds I have done a lot and there are a lot of people and companies to thank; following is a bit of a breakdown on how the team has come together:

Richard Macalister and Kiwi Yachting for sponsoring the campaign to get me set up with the equipment I needed, especially with Magic Marine yachting wear, Richard and the team have been absolutely amazing to me in my sailing endeavours!

David Glen and Southern Spars, for sponsoring me over the period of the New Zealand Nationals in which I was fortunate enough to take the title. I have also been working closely with Carrick Hill in the design and the impending launch of Southern Spars EC6 Carbon rigging for small boats.

Details so far is that we have got 1.8mm carbon rod rigging with the attachment points designed and breaking loads tested. The machining of the rigging is being completed this week for on the water testing. This is looking like it will be a great product, exciting for small boat owners around the world!

The full Bladerider Team: For the great boat, support and coaching in getting me ready to go and working closely with me in making sure I have got everything I need for the worlds; this includes the New Zealand reseller FastCraft as Darren has really looked after me in making sure everything has been done.

Nick Olson and Evolution Composites: For an amazing job of designing and building carbon battens which have made a big difference to the weight and shape of the sail. Also for the upgrades of the boat including the re painting, stiffening and lightening the boat where we could!

KA Sails and AMAC: For the amazing sails and advice! www.kasail.com

The NZL sailors (and Mat Belcher) for the great fun, competition and training!

Then I have to thank Cathay Pacific for getting me to England, as well as Oceanbridge Shipping for the great shipping (actually flying) of the boat –both these companies are amazing and make my life easy.

Sam@TANK webservices for the design and services of my website and also this newsletter!

Lastly there is Ken Dickson and the team at TelstraClear for sponsoring this newsletter and communication costs here in NZL a big thank you! www.telstraclear.co.nz

Here is my plan over the next few weeks and within this time you will see a few more newsletters from me keeping you all up to date with what is happening:

Weymouth England Moth training 18th-20th June

Coaching the YNZ top Academy 470 team at Kiel in Germany 21-29th June

Cheers for now,

Andrew
