IFDS Single Person Dinghy Worlds

The 2005 IFDS Single Person Dinghy Worlds Championship and the Sabaudia's Cup is to be sailed from 1-10 October at San Felice in Italy with 22 competitors from nine countries assembled and ready to race.
In early October is Italy’s is late summer, so it is normally still rather warm. The area where the regatta will take place is well protected and winds turn during the morning from south east to west at around 10 to 15 knots, with the best conditions arriving around noon.
To be hosted by Circeo Yacht Vela Club, operating from a man-made boat harbour nestled below Circeo, it is the ideal place weather-wise, guaranteeing competitors will enjoy 10 days of superb sailing in the Access Liberty class.
The World Championship will comprise SP1 sailors and those SP2 sailors who choose to sail full servo. The World Champion will be the lowest point score amongst the full servo assist sailors.
Competitors include American’s Herb Meyer and Fred Hesse, Simon Harle (UK), Panayotis Tsinganos (GRE) and Portugal’s Bento Amaral and Fernando Pereira. Australia has eight representatives including Zoltan Pegan, Maria and Lindsay Dalmon and Wendy Evans, with Pegan one of the favourites for the title.
Sabaudia's Cup International Regatta will comprise all competitors sailing full servo assist, partial servo and manually. The Sabaudia's Cup winner will be lowest point score across all divisions. The winner will win a Liberty.
This regatta will be sailed in one fleet and is open to holders of an IFDS classification passport, excluding B1 and B2 VIP sailors due to this being a single person event.
Sailors will be classified under the IFDS Functional Classification System 2005, SP System (Appendix J) according to their ability to handle a single person dinghy.
SP1 are sailors who need full servo assistance
SP2 are sailors who need partial servo assistance
SP3 are manual sailors with predominantly upper limb disability. B3 visually impaired and those B2 visually impaired, who are at the more able end of the B2 scale
SP4 are all other classifiable sailors who also sail manual

8 Sat - Racing
9 Sun - Racing
10 Mon - Packing Up Day (Racing if required)
