Two new IMOCAs were launched on the same day. This video from The Ocean Race takes a behind-the-scenes look as Team Malizia and DMG Mori Sailing Team pull back the curtain on their brand-new IMOCA boats.

Both boats represent a break from the past and are a very different vision of the future.

Built to withstand the ultimate test of the upcoming race cycle, with The Ocean Race Atlantic 2026 starting in September 2026 and the around-the-world race in January 2027, these two boats represent a radical departure from the previous generation of offshore racing boats.

In this deep-dive feature, The Ocean Race breaks down the design and engineering philosophy behind each boat, and examines how these new foiling machines are built to be faster, stronger, and more extreme than anything we’ve seen before.

And for a longer look at Malizia 4 undergoing the knockdown test and first sailing...
