Colorful program in the event village - More foiling races expected on Friday
After the opening day of the IFCA Foiling European Championships delivered spectacular action on the North Sea, the wind took a break on day two of the event. With conditions remaining too light, no further races could be held at the California Windsurf Cup St. Peter-Ording on Thursday. The windsurfers were therefore treated to a well-earned rest day, while the action shifted to the large event village on Ordinger Beach.
Visitors were able to enjoy a varied programme for the whole family. Watersports enthusiasts of all ages had the opportunity to try skimboarding, while the Vanlife Expo showcased the active outdoor lifestyle alongside the latest models from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Visitors could also get active themselves during free yoga sessions presented by LVM Insurance.
The LVM Family World offered a wide range of hands-on activities and entertainment for children. Meanwhile, the food court served an extensive selection of street food and event catering.
The entertainment continued into the evening. Following two nights of "Public Viewing at the Beach", the Party Zone will host the event's major beach party featuring DJ Nikki.
Soukos and Eržen remain on top
With no racing possible on the second day of competition, the overall standings in the IFCA Foiling European Championships remain unchanged.
In the mens fleet, Greece's John Soukos (GRE-198) continues to lead ahead of Germany's Fabi Wolf (GER-404) and Dutch rider Bob van de Burgt (NED-737).
Slovenia's Lina Eržen (SLO-51) remains at the top of the women's standings. The Norwegian sisters Tuva Oppedal (NOR-29) and Helle Oppedal (NOR-39) follow in second and third place respectively.
More foiling races expected on Friday
The weather models are forecasting favourable foiling conditions for Friday, raising hopes that further European Championship races can be held during the afternoon.
The forecast for the weekend also indicates suitable conditions for the event's second discipline, Fin Slalom. The Fin Slalom specialists will be hoping to make their first appearance of the competition on Saturday.
The California Windsurf Cup St. Peter-Ording continues until Sunday, 19th of July 2026. The new European champions will be crowned during the official prize-giving ceremony at 5:00 p.m.
