4-12 July 2026
The Gran Canaria GLORIA Windsurf World Cup 2026 delivered one of its most joyful days yet, as the sport's youngest stars took centre stage for the junior finals at Pozo Izquierdo — the legendary "Home of the Wind."
The wind switched on for the kids, and they made the most of it. With enough breeze for forward loops, table tops and rocket airs, the U13 Boys, U15 Boys and U15 Girls fleets lit up the bay with big smiles, big moves and a whole lot of heart. Conditions kept everyone on their toes, but the young riders stayed focused, and turned the sun filled day into pure fun.
Brothers competing with brothers, families sharing the same wind — it's exactly what makes this sport special: competition, passion and community, all on the same stretch of water. Off the water, the Pozo community brought the event to life with family activities, children's workshops, traditional Canarian music and local gastronomy. It was a genuine celebration of the town that has shaped windsurfing for generations, and of the local families who make Pozo a beating heartland of the sport.
The windsurfing world thanks Björn Dunkerbeck and his family, together with the people of Pozo Izquierdo and Santa Lucía de Tirajana, for putting on such a warm and welcoming show — and for their unwavering support of the next generation. A growing global stage. The junior action reached a fast-rising worldwide audience, with the WWT live broadcast building strong momentum on YouTube and the tour's social channels continuing to surge — millions of verified video views across the past month. More fans than ever are discovering wave windsurfing, and the future of the sport is clearly in good hands. The next generation isn't coming. It's already here — and it's flying.
And the best is still ahead. With the forecast building through the week, the world's elite wave sailors are ready to take over Pozo for the pro finals. Fans on the island are invited down to the beach, and audiences worldwide can follow every heat live at worldwindsurftour.com
