The second day of the 2026 ILCA 6 Masters World Championship delivered another two races in classic Athens sea-breeze conditions, allowing the fleet to complete four races in total and further shape the leaderboard across all divisions.
Racing got under way on schedule with a southerly breeze of 6-8 knots from 165-175 degrees for the first race. As the afternoon progressed, the wind steadily increased to 11-13 knots from the same direction, providing a more demanding test for the competitors. Moderate sea conditions and a reliable breeze enabled the race committee to complete both races without delay.
Current Masters leader Jon Emmett GBR was enthusiastic about the day's racing: "I loved the racing today. In these conditions very few sailors have a boat speed advantage which keeps the racing super tight, one big mistake and it is very hard to come back from. I have fond memories of racing here for the Senior Europeans in 2024, so it is wonderful to be back. ILCA Masters racing has a very special atmosphere and the Worlds is one of my favorite events every year."
Competing on home waters, Greece's Anna Agrafioti reflected on her return to the ILCA class: "The wind was more or less the same as yesterday. At the first race we had 8 knots, with choppy wave. These are not my favorite conditions and it can be witnessed from my results. Tomorrow is a new day and I will push harder. I feel thrilled that I am back in ILCA class, and I have the opportunity to participate in my home waters in such a beautiful and very well organized Masters World Championship."
