With the 2026 sailing season on the horizon, the International Yacht and Athletic Club (IYAC) has officially released the Notice of Race and opened registration for the fourth annual Rhody Regatta, set for Saturday, May 30.

The early-season favorite on Narragansett Bay continues to gain momentum, pairing competitive racing with a meaningful charitable mission.

This year's regatta will benefit Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island, an organization dedicated to delivering nutritious meals and vital support services to homebound seniors and individuals in need across the state.

"We're incredibly grateful to the International Yacht and Athletic Club and the Rhody Regatta community for choosing Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island as this year's beneficiary," said Executive Director Meg Grady. "Support from events like this helps advance our mission and allows us to deliver more than 480,000 nutritious meals each year to over 5,500 Rhode Islanders, helping people across the state live healthier, more independent lives."

The Rhody Regatta has quickly become a key early-season test for sailors eager to shake off the offseason and dial in performance. The event features a single 18-mile course circumnavigating Jamestown—also known as Conanicut Island—offering a dynamic mix of open-water sailing and tactical shoreline strategy. The start and finish will be set near Fort Adams, placing competitors in the heart of Newport's iconic racing waters.

Eligibility, registration

The Rhody Regatta is open to all Cruising/Racing Yachts, with or without a 2026 PHRF of Narragansett Bay handicap. The fleet will be divided into handicap and one-design classes according to rating and other factors at the discretion of IYAC Race Management.

Competitors can enter online at bit.ly/RhodyYachtscoring to secure their place on the starting line for a race that delivers both performance and purpose.

Set sail and step up: Join the fundraising challenge

Teams are encouraged not only to register to race, but also to participate in a fundraising challenge in support of Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island. Crews can create and manage their own fundraising pages, rally supporters, and compete to make the greatest impact off the water. Prizes will be awarded for top performances on the water, as well as to the overall top fundraising team. To register a team for the fundraising challenge, visit: bit.ly/Rhody2026fund.
