Wild Thing takes Line Honours in 78th Gladstone Ports Corporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race

Wild Thing has claimed Line Honours in the 78th Gladstone Ports Corporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race, crossing the finish line in Gladstone on Saturday 4 April at 6.24am.
After a strong run up the Queensland coast, the crew was met with a beautiful dawn as they made their final approach into Gladstone Harbour to secure Line Honours.
The 29 strong fleet set off from Shorncliffe at 11am on Good Friday in brisk south easterly conditions, with winds around 15 knots and building. At times, Wild Thing was recording speeds of more than 22 knots, setting a fast early pace that came with a few breakages along the way. Conditions delivered a lively start before easing in parts, making for a varied and tactical race north.
Hosted by the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club, the Gladstone Ports Corporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race remains one of Queensland's most respected offshore races, attracting a mix of experienced crews and competitive yachts each year.
Further results, including IRC and PHS divisions, will be confirmed as the remaining fleet arrives into Gladstone.
