by Vilamoura Sailing / Prow Group 28 Feb 23:10 PST 25 February - 1 March 2026

The 8th Portugal Grand Prix - Round 2 concluded Saturday in Vilamoura, with final races sailed in a northerly breeze that stabilized through the afternoon, allowing the majority of the scheduled program to be completed and confirming the overall winners across the Olympic classes.

Following four days of competition, the regatta brought together a strong international fleet and finalized the standings in the 470, 49er, 49erFX, ILCA 7, and ILCA 6 classes.

In the 470 class, Portugal's Beatriz Gago and Rodolfo Pires secured overall victory with a consistent series throughout the week. Great Britain's Haydn Sewell and Daniela Fusco-House finished second, while Norway's Julia Jacobsen and Victor Lööf completed the podium in third place.

The 49erFX title went to Spain's Patricia Suarez and Melania Henke following steady performances across the final stages of the event. The Dutch team of Odile Lambrièx van Aanholt and Marissa IJben finished second overall. For Lambrièx van Aanholt, the regatta marked her first international competition since the Paris Olympic Games and her return to racing after becoming a mother. Spain's Alicia Fras and Elena Barrio secured third place.

In the ILCA 7 fleet, Hungary's Jonatan Vadnai claimed overall victory after maintaining consistent results through the final day. Great Britain's Elliot Hanson finished second, with the Netherlands' Duko Bos in third.

Poland's Magdalena Kwasna won the ILCA 6 Women fleet, followed by Ireland's Eve McMahon in second place and Great Britain's Matilda Nicholls in third.

In the ILCA 6 Men fleet, Sweden's Viktor Elfving secured first place overall. Turkey's Timur Goca finished second, while Portugal's David Cabrita concluded the regatta in third.

The 49er class was won by Uruguay's Hernán Umpierre and Fernando Diz after a strong final series. Poland's Mikolaj Staniul and Jakub Sztorch finished second, and Denmark's Frederik Rask and Jakob Precht Jensen placed third overall.

A prize money award was presented at the conclusion of the regatta. Jonatan Vadnai received the individual prize as overall winner in the ILCA 7 fleet. An additional recognition was awarded to coach Dewi Cornelia Couvert of the Netherlands for bringing the largest number of sailors across Rounds 1 and 2 of the Portugal Grand Prix series.

The 8th Portugal Grand Prix once again confirmed Vilamoura's role as a key venue on the winter world sailing calendar, providing competitive racing conditions and strong international participation ahead of the 2026 season.
