8th Portugal Grand Prix Round 2 at Vilamoura Sailing - Day 2

The second day of the 8th Portugal Grand Prix - Round 2 delivered another full schedule of racing in Vilamoura. Sailors faced stable breeze during part of the day before lighter and more technical conditions developed later in the afternoon.

In the 49erFX fleet, Spain's Alicia Fras and Elena Barrio lead the provisional classification after consistent results. The United States crew of Paris Henken and Helena Scutt sits in second place, while Sweden's Vilma Bobeck, Olympic silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, now racing with new crew Ebba Berntsson, holds third overall.

Portugal's Lourenço Mateus leads the ILCA 7 standings after two additional races. Hungary's Jonatan Vadnai is second, followed by Great Britain's Elliot Hanson in third position.

In the 470 class, Spain's Jordi Xammar Hernandez, bronze medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, sailing with Marta Cardona Alcántara, tops the ranking after four races completed over two days. Portugal's Beatriz Gago and Rodolfo Pires are second overall, with Norway's Julia Jacobsen and Victor Lööf in third.

The ILCA 6 Women fleet is led by Poland's Wiktoria Golebiowska, followed by compatriot Magdalena Kwasna in second place. Israel's Shay Kakon occupies third position after the second day of competition.

In the ILCA 6 Men fleet, Sweden's Viktor Elfving leads the standings. Germany's Levian Büscher is second, while Portugal's José Paulo Monteiro stands in third place overall.

The 49er class is headed by Sweden's Marius Westerlind and Olle Aronsson. Uruguay's Hernán Umpierre and Fernando Diz are second, with Denmark's Jonas Warrer and Mathias Sletten completing the top three.

The 8th Portugal Grand Prix continues to attract a strong international fleet as part of the winter series in Vilamoura, providing valuable race experience ahead of the 2026 international season.

Racing is scheduled to continue tomorrow, with further races planned for all classes as the regatta moves toward its final stages.
