The Olympic Week CV Youth, which has been taking place since last Thursday at the RCN Valencia, was disrupted today due to a weather alert affecting the Valencian coast.

The third day of the Eurocup 29, scheduled for today, Saturday, had to be cancelled as a safety measure because of the strong winds battering the coast, which made it impossible to hold the scheduled races. This decision followed alerts issued by the Port Authority of Valencia, which ordered a total closure to navigation, and by the Valencian Regional Government late yesterday, Friday.

After three days without competition at the RCNV Regatta Base, the race committee has announced changes to the programme for the final day. The first race on Sunday, corresponding to the fourth and final day of the event, will now start at 9:30 a.m., bringing forward the warning signal from the original schedule in order to take advantage of the more stable wind conditions expected in the morning.

The race committee has emphasized that the absolute priority is the safety of sailors, coaches, and technical teams. Wind conditions recorded on Saturday reached levels that could compromise the integrity of the boats and the safety of participants, which is why it was decided to suspend the scheduled races.

Valencia has experienced several days of unusual weather, which have significantly affected this week's races. On Thursday and Friday, the wind became so strong and unpredictable that it was impossible to complete a single race. Even the more than 200 boats registered in the 29er and ILCA 4 classes were unable to reach the regatta area, forcing the competition to be postponed and leaving sailors and coaches waiting for more favorable conditions.

The organizers are confident that Sunday's weather will allow the fourth and final day of the Olympic Week CV Youth to proceed as planned, concluding some of the races that could determine the podium positions.

The RCN de Valencia, host of the event, has reiterated its commitment to organizational excellence and sailing safety, ensuring that every decision prioritizes the well-being of the sailors.
