The 2026 WASZP MidWinters Regatta at the US Sailing Center at Jensen Beach set the tone for the season over the holiday weekend, offering everything foiling sailors hope for in January. Warm sunshine, flat water, and consistent 12 to 16 knot breeze allowed ten excellent races to be sailed, underscoring both the quality of the conditions and the importance of the Class's partnership with this world class venue as sailors begin their push toward the WASZP Games in Pensacola.

Leading the fleet was Callum Ruch, whose win in Jensen Beach places him firmly at the top of the early standings in the 2026 North American Triple Crown. Ruch sailed a composed and consistent series throughout the weekend, capitalizing on the conditions and executing clean starts and fast laps. Henry Krieble followed closely with a strong second place finish, while Ryan Wood rounded out the podium in third after a competitive and hard fought regatta.

Beyond the results, MidWinters showcased what the WASZP Class is building toward with its new model of Class led, high level events that support sailors at every stage. Throughout the weekend, free coaching was provided by WeCANFoil and the US WASZP Class, giving sailors access to on the water guidance, tuning support, and performance feedback regardless of experience level. This approach helped elevate racing across the fleet while reinforcing the collaborative culture that defines the Class.

The regatta also continued full integration of Vakaros digital race management, enhancing race quality, fairness, and transparency. With precise starting sequences, clear OCS calls, and reliable race data, sailors and race committee alike benefitted from a professional and modern racing experience that continues to set the standard for WASZP events.

As the build toward the 2026 WASZP Games in Pensacola continues, the partnership with the US Sailing Center of Jensen Beach has delivered something the Class has pursued for years: a fixed Winter Base. Jensen Beach now serves as the central anchor for winter training and development, offering reliable foiling conditions, affordable access, and a stable platform for Class led coaching that allows sailors to train with continuity and purpose.

"This is exactly what the Class has been working toward," said Tyler Bjorn, WASZP North America Class Manager. "A fixed Winter Base gives sailors consistency. It allows us to support development at every level while creating a shared training environment that raises the standard for the entire fleet."

Building on the momentum from MidWinters, the Class will return to Jensen Beach for two additional supported clinics on February 6 to February 8, 2026 and February 27 to March 1, 2026. These weekends will provide structured training and coaching support in the critical weeks leading into the WASZP Games, reinforcing Jensen Beach's role as the foundation of winter preparation.

Jensen Beach will also host the Region 2 High School and College National Qualifier from January 31 to February 1, 2026, bringing school based foiling competition directly into the Winter Base environment. The event will determine qualifiers for the inaugural WASZP High School and College National Championships and further strengthens the connection between youth, collegiate, and elite pathways within the Class.

With excellent conditions, strong racing, free coaching, and cutting edge technology, the MidWinters Regatta offered a clear snapshot of what the WASZP Class aims to deliver across North America. Jensen Beach has firmly established itself as a cornerstone winter venue, and the road to Pensacola is now fully defined.
