29er Eurocup 2025 Final at Fraglia Vela Riva - Day 3

by 29er Class 28 Oct 2025 06:25 AEDT 25-28 October 2025

The organisational efficiency of Fraglia Vela Riva continues to impress. On this third day of the 29er EuroCup 2025 - The Finals — the first dedicated to the decisive races of the Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Emerald fleets — three races were completed (two for the Emerald fleet), bringing the total to ten in three days.

Favourable weather conditions, with the usual alternation of Ora and Pelèr, and the effectiveness of the Race Committee and Fraglia Vela Riva's Technical Manager, Fausto Maroni, once again ensured smooth and timely racing.

With today's results, the standings — featuring nearly 150 teams — are beginning to take shape, and there's a new crew at the top. Switzerland's Ikke Huber and Liam Berger, bronze medallists at the European Championship held here in Riva del Garda last July, have taken the lead thanks to their consistent performance, building a five-point advantage over their pursuers. In second place remain the French pair Alexandre Mostini and Raphaël Allain, who, despite winning the second race of the day, could not retain their earlier lead. Climbing onto the third step of the podium are Italians Giuseppe Montesano and Enrico Coslovich, who moved up from sixth to third overall with today's two third-place finishes and one fifteenth, confirming themselves as one of Italy's top teams.

Turning to the overall standings of the 2025 29er EuroCup — of which The Finals is the concluding event — reigning World Champions Niklas Holt and Philip Forslund staged a strong comeback. Starting the day in 19th place, the Norwegian duo now sit fourth, after ending Day 2 in twelfth position. Currently second in the overall season ranking, they have moved one place and four points ahead of the series leaders, French sailors Nolann Huet Des Aunay and Titouan Gresset. The battle for the overall title will therefore remain open until the final race, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

Among the top female and mixed teams ahead of the final day, Italy's Bianca Marchesini and Lucia Finato lead the women's ranking and are 13th overall, while Emilia Salvatore and Pietro Rizzi lead the mixed category, currently sitting 10th overall. Among the mixed crews, it's worth noting the difficult day for Czechs Karolina Lajkova and Peter Pelnar: leaders of the special ranking until yesterday evening, they dropped from seventh to 31st overall after a challenging day on the water, a reminder of how unpredictable and intense 29er racing can be.
