Hebe Haven Yacht Club is proud to announce the fifth edition of this exciting festival, scheduled to take place from May 27 to June 1, 2025. Initiated by World Sailing, the global governing body for the sport of sailing recognized by the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee, Steering the Course is an international festival designed to provide opportunities for women worldwide to get into sailing and explore pathways into coaching and race management.

Sailing is one of the most inclusive sports, enjoyed by people of all ages, genders, and abilities, whether as a recreational hobby or at the highest competitive levels. To support this worldwide campaign, Hebe Haven Yacht Club strives to make sailing accessible to all. "This year, we are honored to have our dedicated sponsors, including Leo Wealth, Grandtech International Engineering Limited, and Sense of Touch, whose support enables the event to thrive and grow, ensuring its success and sustainability," said Juliet Ashton, Chair of the Event.

Steering the Course is a global initiative that unites sailing communities, celebrates the achievements of women in the sport, and attracts newcomers. Participants can try various activities that promote sailing as a sport or recreational activity and are invited to explore new roles. This year, Hebe Haven Yacht Club celebrates the 5th anniversary with fun sailing taster sessions to engage new participants. These sessions provide an excellent introduction for those interested in learning to sail.

A highlight of the festival is the Race Management Training Day on May 29, 2025, where experienced sailors and active club members can shadow current race officials to learn a wide range of skills, such as selecting the best courses for competitors, adjusting them based on weather and sea conditions, and ensuring well-organized, fair, and enjoyable events while maintaining safety.

As in previous years, Hebe Haven Yacht Club will run this year's event alongside Sailability Hong Kong, an independently funded charitable organization hosted at HHYC. Since its inception in 2021, both organizations have collaborated on various activities to mark the Women's Sailing Festival. For those interested in trying MoHan, a sailing boat that plays a significant role in Sailability Hong Kong's accessible and therapeutic sailing programs, don't miss the Mohan Taster Sailing Session on May 28. Mohan is used for competitive racing, team building, and recreational cruising, providing opportunities for sailors with disabilities and special education needs.

For those new to the event, Hebe Haven Yacht Club and Sailability Hong Kong invite everyone to join a unique webinar hosted by World Sailing, reflecting on HHYC's five years of empowering women in sailing through the Steering the Course initiative. The webinar will take place online on May 28, 2025, with a registration link provided to encourage early sign-ups.

The festival will conclude on Sunday June 1st with the Leo Wealth Hong Kong Open Ladies' / Girls' Champs Regatta 2025. The regatta is open to female crews sailing keelboats of different classes and divisions, including PHS Division big boats, One-design Classes (J/80, DC29), and Dinghy Classes (RS Quest, Hansa 303, Optimist). Don't miss the fun-filled prize-giving party after the race, showcasing the community spirit of the sport.

Bring a friend and join us at the Steering the Course Women's Sailing Festival. Hebe Haven Yacht Club looks forward to welcoming everyone to learn more about sailing and unlock their sailing potential. Find out more here.
