Bayliss Boatworks new construction updates

by Bayliss Boatworks 2 Apr 10:31 PDT

Big Deal is reaching significant milestones, starting with a major exterior update: Palm Beach Towers has successfully installed the tower and hardtop, marking a pivotal step in the construction process.

Inside, our interior carpentry team is pulling together every detail. Cabinetry is now in place in both the pantry and dayhead, while the companionway has been enhanced with a refined teak staircase complete with a matching border.  In the master stateroom, our team installed a custom teak-veneered bunk with gas-spring-assisted lifting, making it easy to access the storage area below.

Our exterior carpentry team is making steady headway on Tarheel, focusing on the mezzanine and bridge console buildouts. The bridge console is now taking shape, while on the mezzanine, boxes have been sprayed with primer, and stainless steel liners have been fabricated in preparation for refrigeration coil installation.

Inside, our electrical crew has installed the salon transformers and wired the MSR air handler. Each one of these steps builds toward the completion of a milestone in the construction process, and we are excited to see the next step in Tarheel's journey!

Mama Seata had another big month! After sanding and priming in the engine room, pump room, and beneath the salon deck, our skilled paint team applied top coat in preparation for installing the engines and generators. The mechanical team, in collaboration with Hathaway Marine, then successfully installed her generators, engines, and salon/pump room decking.

Following these milestones, Mama Seata was moved to the main shop, where she will remain until her cabin installation in the coming months.

Following the whiskey plank on Crisdel, the sheer guard was installed, and our hull carpentry team promptly began sanding the hull sides and bottom in preparation for glassing. Scaffolding was built to provide easy access for working on the bottom and sides.

Recently, the engine vents were glassed in place, and glassing of the hull bottom was completed. After sanding, the hull bottom was coated with Awlfair, and sanding continued. Up next, the hull carpentry team will apply SuperBuild to the hull bottom before beginning the glassing process on the hull sides.
