ILCA Senior European Championship 2025 in Marstrand, Sweden - Day 1

by Agustín Argüelles, EurILCA 12 Aug 03:43 PDT 9-16 August 2025

The opening day of racing at the 2025 ILCA Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy wrapped up today in Marstrand, Sweden, with the first two scheduled races completed for all three classes.

The morning brought strong swell conditions, forcing a postponement ashore. By the time fleets launched between 11:30 and 12:00, the waves had eased to around 2 metres, allowing racing to get under way shortly after 13:00. The swell continued to drop during the afternoon, settling into a choppier 0.5-1 metre by the end of the second races.

A steady breeze of 10-12 knots prevailed for most of the day, softening slightly in the closing stages.

Racing continues tomorrow with two more races scheduled.
