From December 1st to 3rd, Clube Naval de Cascais hosted another edition of the NacionalGest Christmas Race, which this year gathered 265 sailors of all ages, representing 34 clubs from eight countries.

The weekend was marked by high-level competition and the festive spirit of the holiday season.

In the Optimist class, the host club claimed the top positions in the overall standings, with Guilherme Ryder excelling by taking first place - and winning the Eng. Barros Pereira Trophy - followed by Guilherme Costa and Diogo Reis. Laura Leiria Pinto was the best female sailor in this class.

In the Under-12 category, Guilherme Costa claimed another victory, with Vasco Moreira taking second place and Artur Bento securing third, while Maria do Mar Costa was the top female sailor.

In the ILCA 4 class, which also disputed the season's first national qualification race, David Cabrita emerged victorious, followed by Henrique Peixinho and Juliana Bastianelli, who also stood out as the top female sailor. In the ILCA 6 class, João Rosa won both the overall and Under-19 categories, joined on the podium by Jannis Tomáz and Kuzey Karis. Luísa Peres, finishing in fourth place, took the top spot in the female category. In the ILCA 7 class, Lourenço Mateus topped the standings, followed by João Pontes in second place and Adolfo Virgili Pasqual Del Riquelme in third.

In the 420 class, the Under-17 duo Miguel Lima and Manuel Pires de Lima claimed the overall victory, followed by Miguel and Manuel Plantier. Teresa Quartin and Rita Borges secured third place and led the female category.

In the SB20 class, Team Xcellent, composed of John Pollard, Henry Wetherell, and Santiago Sampaio, won the competition, followed by the crews of Hotel Valverde and AP Hotels & Resorts.

Finally, in the Star class, Piet Eckert and Frederico Pinheiro de Melo, from Clube Naval de Cascais, claimed first place.

The NacionalGest Christmas Regatta 2024 was sponsored by NacionalGest Insurance Consultants and supported by Marina de Cascais, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability by earning the silver certification in the Clean Regattas program by Sailors for the Sea - Portugal. According to António Melão, Regional Director of Lisbon for NacionalGest, "It is an honor and a pleasure to be associated with Clube Naval de Cascais in sponsoring this edition of the Christmas Regatta, and we hope this marks the beginning of many more partnerships."
