2024 29er World Championships at Sailing Aarhus starts today

Elite sailors from 27 nations have gathered in Aarhus, Denmark for the largest 29er Worlds on record. With 516 sailors from all around the world hosted by Sailing Aarhus, the event will be a spectacular celebration of 29er racing - with 18 races scheduled over the next 6 days.

Having completed measurement and registration, prepared their boats and got to know the local venue, the athletes aged 13 through to 51 gathered for a memorable celebration to open the 2024 29er World Championships including a waterfront parade, short presentation and refreshments.

The World Championships is always the pinnacle event for the class and many former 29er Champions and competitors have gone on to achieve great things in the sport, including Olympic medals, Sail GP, America's Cup, Offshore races and beyond.

At 11am on the 4th August, the first race begins - sailors will race in six fleets for the first three days of the championships after which they will be split into gold, silver, bronze, emerald, purple and white fleets for the remainder of the finals racing.
