Sika continues sponsorship of nautical-based Sikaflex® Challenge events in 2024

Sika Corporation is proud to announce sponsorship of the 2024 Sikaflex® Challenge Build-a-Boat Cup series, continuing its support of over 40 years.

These fun, family-friendly, boat building events challenge contestants to design, build, and race their seaworthy vessels, constructed only with cartridges of fast-curing Sikaflex®-291 marine adhesive and sealant, two sheets of 5/8" plywood, and zip ties. That's right - no nails, no screws, or other mechanical fastening devices are allowed. This is a great venue for participants to showcase their creative skills and talents as boatbuilders and racers. Teams are judged on how quickly they complete construction, quality & craftsmanship, creativity, and of course, their speed on the water.

Sikaflex® Challenge events are held at local summer festivals and other gatherings around the country, where thousands of spectators watch and cheer as competitors race across the water. Each year, Sika remains impressed with the creative design concepts that participants come up with! Over the long history of events, teams have built many fun and one-of-a-kind designs, from tugboats and battleships to rubber duckies, viking ships, famous cartoon vehicles, and even crocodiles. Oars may break, boats may sink, builders might have to swim, but there are always winners!

During Sikaflex® Challenge events, prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place in the true test, the Sea Trials. Podium finishers receive the coveted Sikaflex® Challenge Cup; trophies are also awarded in the categories of Best Design and Fastest Build.
