Calabash will compete for the prestigious Superyacht Cup trophy in Mallorca.

After a very successful world premiere in Palma de Mallorca our new Y8 set off to Italy before returning now to Mallorca for her second major appearance. From June 19 to 22, the new Y8 CALBASH will be competing in the Superyacht Cup, one of the world's most prestigious regattas.

The field registered so far includes eleven yachts and such illustrious names as "Maximus", "Vijona" and "Velsheda", in which the Y8 "Calabash" has no need to hide. Christian Möller: "Each of the yachts we have designed, and especially the new Y8, has a good chance on the regatta course."

The name of Javier Jaudenes, who calculated and designed the Y8, guarantees for Christian's statement about the new Y8. Surge Projects, the Mallorcan design studio around Javier Jaudenes, has a "knack" for a timelessly elegant design, but also has great experience in designing fast yachts - Surge designs have won many trophies.

Javier says about the Y8: "We aimed for a light ship displacement of 40 tons with moderate stability, refining the hull's shape based on findings from previous high-performance projects to ensure responsiveness within a wide range of conditions. Through exhaustive analysis the hull lines were optimized to enhance performance, stability, and manoeuvrability under sail. The sail plan configuration strikes a balance between delivering substantial driving forces and mitigating heeling moments, delaying reefing until wind speeds of 18 knots."
