Para-D
Para-D is parallel stranded, continuously wound, UHMWPE (Dyneema) fibers covered with a highly chafe resistant PE cover. It is then coated with a tough Urethane coating. It is lightweight and easily adapted to existing masts, spreader ends, and turnbuckles. Since it is not braided, Para-D Rigging has no constructional elongation issues.
Sized for equivalent elastic stretch and designed for virtually no creep Para-D offers a low windage profile and very long UV life. Para-D is a value leader in state of the art standing rigging on sailboats.

Comparison: Carbon vs. Para-D
Our Para-D rigging offers superior performance due to its elastic stretch, similar to that of carbon standing rigging, but at a more affordable price. Made from UHMWPE (Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene), it is engineered to bear loads within the 10-15% strength efficiency range, thereby reducing sailboat fatigue.
As pioneers in using Dyneema for standing rigging, Colligo Marine has carefully developed this cost-effective alternative to traditional steel or carbon rigging. The flexible end fitting designs ensure minimal disruption to existing sailboat connections.
Our Para-D is designed with a minimum of 6/1 factor of safety and with a 15 year predicted lifespan. It out does all other rigging on all fronts, except expensive Carbon Fiber Rigging. That is only slightly smaller for perceived windage issues and slightly less in mass.
