Ramsgate Week Day 2

Ramsgate Week Day 2 © Piers Hodges

As the day dawned overcast with moderate breezes, some of the competitors would have been feeling somewhat jaded after an evening enjoying the live music at the RTYC and the hospitality offered by the new caterers, Darcy's.

Tuesday's race was sponsored by Turner, Jackson & Day Associates and Practical Car & Van Rental with competitors starting from RTYC shoreside race control. All classes were sent on courses towards Broadstairs Knoll; the longer IRC course being 17.40 nm and the cruisers on slightly shorter courses of 12.52nm for classes 4,5,6 and 9.46nm for class 7.

The race started in fairly light breezes, before building towards 20 knots and then abating slightly towards the end of the race. Alas, the rain forecast for the late afternoon came through early, giving the crews a soaking as they were coming to the finishing line.
