Garda Trentino is becoming an increasingly important reference point for modern international sailing, as well as classic sailing: in fact, 12 teams representing 7 nations will be on stage on Garda waters until Sunday 14 August, hosted by Circolo Vela Torbole, for the 69F Youth Foiling Gold Cup, act 4 of the 2022 Circuit.
The foil monohull built by Persico, representing a mini America's Cup, this time sees 12 teams under 25 involved, including some Italian sailors such as Matteo Celon and Federico Colaninno aboard the American team San Francisco Flyer and the Swiss Okalys Youth Project respectively.
After qualifying on the first two days, the elimination stages are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, which will decide the six finalist teams. After three days of racing the Dutch of DutchSail Janssen de Jong Mixed are in the lead, followed by the Swiss of Okalys Youth Project; at two points Black Salomn Team Argentina and at one point behind Clean Sailors Youth Racing Team.
Closing out the top six were the two French teams Team France and Groupe Atlantic. The first few days were perfect on Lake Garda with not too strong winds and fairly flat water, ideal conditions for foiling. In the coming days there will be more high-adrenaline racing in an area that always offers fantastic conditions and remains up-to-date with the latest trends, such as the 69F, which are offering many the chance to experience the thrill of flying on water in a much easier way than one might think.
At Circolo Vela Torbole, the organisation is finding a perfect logistical base to carry out all the activities necessary for the management of the boats and crews.
