One hundred years of Balboa Yacht Club history have been captured and uniquely portrayed in a new documentary premiering April 14 for BYC members at a special Thursday Night Dinner Program. Press is invited to the viewing, though seating will be limited, to join us on a journey through history.

Through the Ayes of Commodores features interviews with several Staff Commodores, some of whom can speak to the small boat sailing days of the 1930s. By walking the timeline forward, you learn about the start of many ongoing events like the Governor's Cup and Long Point Race Week, as well as unique personal insights into the Club's history. There is a particularly wonderful retrospective of 2008 Olympic gold medalist Nick Scandone, as well as a tribute to other BYC Wall of Fame members. The documentary will also showcase restored historical photos and records pulled from the Club's archives, as well as outside resources such as the Sherman Garden and Library.

BYC's Centennial Commodore, Paul Blank, expressed, "It is with great anticipation I look forward to the screening of Through the Ayes of Commodores. The Club has great history and a century of accomplishments to communicate. This is yet one more aspect of a year in which we are celebrating our past and provisioning for our future."

Launched by BYC's Centennial Committee, the project was spearheaded by Peter Bretschger, a Staff Commodore of BYC. Filmmaker Robert Rollins oversaw videography with narration by the rich voice of noted actor Ed Kelly.

The Club will also be celebrating its 100 years with its Centennial Gala on April 9, Opening Day on May 7, and a Centennial Celebration Luncheon on July 10.
