A ridge of high pressure is strengthening along the coast on Saturday as a high moves across Tasmania. This high will reach the Tasman Sea later Saturday, causing northeasterly winds to develop. Meanwhile, Severe Tropical Cyclone Dovi is expected to move south, over the eastern Tasman Sea during Saturday, generating large easterly swells.
The forecast for Sunday is for seas mostly 1.5 to 2.5 metres, plus swell of 3 metres in the north down to 1.5 in the south, but on all parts of the coast, surf conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing. BOM has warned that surf conditions may be more powerful than they appear.
