The Marina Industries Association (MIA) has awarded the stunning Lantau Yacht Club (LYC) with 5 Gold Anchors, following a magnificent on-water and landside rebuild. Opening in September 2020, the marinas is located on the tranquil side of Hong Kong at Discovery Bay on Lantau Island, and is perfectly positioned to explore the local cruising grounds of Hong Kong or as a gateway to explore China.

Five Gold Anchors is among the highest accolades that the industry awards and is reserved for marinas which offer their customers consistently high standards of service and facilities. MIA CEO Suzanne Davies noted, "Gold Anchor is a simple and credible way of communicating to potential customers the marina's commitment to quality facilities and services. Gold Anchor is to marinas, what the Michelin Guide is to restaurants. There are over 200 Gold Anchor Marinas accredited in 27 countries around the world and the program is really 'on the move' and expanding in numbers and locations."

Built according to the highest standard, LYC's typhoon-sheltered marina offers 148 berths ranging from 10m to 60m and is the first yacht club in Hong Kong capable of accommodating superyachts of up to about 100m in length. The face-lifted LYC Clubhouse, cosy and chic, is welcoming of members and guests - Caffè Napoli serves mainly modern Western cuisine with a few Asian delights; The Entertainment Room is tailored for private gatherings and the seaside lawn, spacious and picturesque, is perfect for hosting outdoor events.

On receiving the 5 Gold Anchor award, Ivan Lee, Vice President of Lantau Yacht Club, said, "We are delighted that Lantau Yacht Club is accredited as a 5 Gold Anchor Marina on its first anniversary by Marina Industries Association. At LYC, all infrastructure and facilities, on water and on shore, were designed and built according to the most stringent requirements, while the system, procedures, as well as customer service were carefully crafted to attain the best marina quality, offering outstanding environment and experience to our members and crew. LYC will challenge its own status quo and provide a holistic yachting experience for our members and visitors, making LYC the preferred yachting destination in Hong Kong and in the region."

Andrew Chapman, MIA President further noted, "We are very proud to accredit LYC as a Gold Anchor Marina. These awards are not given lightly as each rated marina is subject to a rigorous independent audit of their services and facilities which assesses 86 separate criteria covering management processes, the condition and maintenance of the marina, environmental practices and the ancillary facilities and services."

As the LYC is now fully operational, it is looking forward to more collaboration with yacht brands, agents and other industry stakeholders to organise yachting events and promotion of the yachting lifestyle and Hong Kong as a yachting destination of choice.
