The keel-laying ceremony of the first VQ80 Sportfish took place on 20 November as we started construction of a fully custom and seriously sleek Vanquish like nothing that's gone before.

While COVID-19 restrictions meant that the owner's representative and our own Tom Steentjes were unable to attend this milestone moment in person, both joined the event via Zoom.

Most powerful VQ to date

This 24-metre beauty will serve as Chase Boat to Project SkyFall, a 60-metre superyacht currently in build at Heesen. A next-generation C32 marine engine will offer the VQ80 Sportfish a storming total of 4800 horsepower, feeding two surface drives to give the yacht a 51-knot top speed.

Advancing the throttles will be an experience in itself on the most powerful VQ to date, which will also carry a whopping 5700 litres of fuel. With a range at 48 to 50 knots of 330 nautical miles, the best off-the-beaten-track fishing grounds will quickly come into play.

The deployment of Petestep's hull technology will enhance efficiency by over 15% at high speeds, allowing for an impressive top speed and operating range. In combination with the suspension effect of the Petestep deflectors, the VQ80 SportFish will set a new benchmark for performance and ride comfort in the yacht industry.
