Calling all youth crew: Help set our course for the future

More than thirty years after STS Young Endeavour started sailing the Australian coast, the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme continues to deliver challenging, rewarding and inspiring adventures under sail for the youth of Australia.

In 2020 the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme is gauging the long-term outcomes delivered by the program to those individuals, and to Australian society as a whole. If you have joined a voyage in STS Young Endeavour as a member of our Youth Crew, please help us by completing the Young Endeavour Census.

The information we collect as part of this longitudinal study will be used to guide the future of the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme, and the delivery of the Young Endeavour Youth Development Program.

Long term questions for long term results

During 32 years of operation, STS Young Endeavour has delivered nearly 600 voyages, embarked more than 14,000 Youth Crew and a further 15,000 community day sail participants, and welcomed innumerable visitors aboard during our many port visits. We continue to develop communication, teamwork and leadership skills, and to build resilience and community spirit amongst the young people who join our Youth Crew.

Since 1988 we have asked Youth Crew to complete a questionnaire to measure their sentiments at the conclusion of each voyage. This provides us with the short term view, however we would also like to gain a long term view of program outcomes.

The Young Endeavour Census will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. All answers will be kept confidential and de-identified for statistical analysis (read the complete Privacy Policy here).
