SSANZ Round North Island: First boats finish Leg 1

The Bakewell-White design Wired, was first to finish Leg 1 of the Evolution Sails Round North Island Race 2020.

The 52fter finish in Mongonui, at the northern tip of new Zealand at 0615hrs having taken 16hrs 15min for the first leg of almost 160nm.

52fters were also second and third to finish with Kia Kaha sailed by the father and daughter crew of Chris and Rebecca Hornell, crossing the finish line at 0626hrs with Miss Scarlet (Graeme Wilson and William Goodfellow) finishing at 0647hrs.

The race, for two person crews is around the North Island of New Zealand and has attracted 38 crews of whom three are mixed gender and one is an all-women crew.
