Canadian sailors in the Laser, Laser Radial, Finn and 470 fleets have been working hard this week at the 2019 Hempel World Cup Series to put Canada in the forefront. While the weather has fluctuated, athletes were able to get some good racing in at the beginning of the day before the wind died down in the afternoon.

With a difficult start of the event, CST member Sarah Douglas was able to fight her way up the scoreboard finishing tenth overall, securing herself a spot in tomorrow's medal race. "It's been a really tricky week here in Miami, the clouds have really tested us. But I'm really happy to have made it to the medal race tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to hopefully moving up"

Accompanying his fellow teammate is CST member Tom Ramshaw. Although the Finn sailors were not able to complete their set amount of scheduled races, Tom's multiple 5 place finishes at the end of the week brought him back up to the top of the fleet. While he heads into tomorrow's medal race, it seems that this event was more about learning than winning. "I wasn't as much focused on results as I was on learning new systems my coach has put in place. Figuring things out together was my priority, it took me a few days to get going and there's still a lot of room for improvement. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that I still had a shot at a medal because I made some big mistakes and left a lot of points on the race course."

In the Laser, CST member Robert Davis led the group of Canadians throughout the week and came third in one of his races today. This Canadian sailor finishes the event with a 27th place finish, followed by CSDS member Fillah Karim in 30th.

A big shoutout goes to all of our Canadian sailors who have been competing at this event!
