Multihull Central and Pacific Sailing School last night hosted the first information session on sail training training programs run onboard catamarans.

Pacific Sailing School is one of Australia's longest established and most well respected sailing schools, which is widely recognised internationally as the benchmark for sail training.

"I love cats and we enjoy of our overseas excursions with students on them as they are just the ideal platform for cruising and holidays, so it's great we can now offer our training programs in Australia onboard catamarans," said Terry Wise Principal of Pacific Sailing School.

Pacific Sailing School will deliver first class training, with their tried and tested program to be adopted for catamarans sourced by Multihull Central, utilising experienced and qualified catamaran skippers.

"Most of our customers are buying catamarans to go cruising but they are often buying their first big boat, have little coastal or offshore sailing experience or have no experience onboard catamarans," said Brent Vaughan Director of Multihull Central,

"Up until now there has been a real lack of good training that is actually applied to catamarans and provides international accreditation, so I think this partnership will be a great outcome for people aspiring to cruising on cats and want to be skilled up before they go."

The first programs will be run onboard new 38ft Seawind 1160 LITE supplied by Pegasus Yacht Charters on Sydney Harbour with owner Pete Johnson being a former trainee of Pacific Sailing School.

"I started sailing only four years ago with Terry from Pacific Sailing with no experience and here I am today with my own catamaran and ready to run my own charter business," said Pete.

The initial training dates have been announced and further information can be found by making contact with PSS
