French yacht and powerboat builder Jeanneau continues to grow their ownership base in Australia and an owner's regatta every year builds loyalty to the brand. We report on how this year's regatta panned out on Sydney's Pittwater.
Saturday 21st April saw over 40 yachts participating in the 2018 NSW Jeanneau Rendezvous with crews sailing from up and down the East Coast to participate. The annual event, organised and hosted by local dealer Performance Boating Sales, is one of the most popular events on their calendar which includes the Jeanneau Division at Sail Port Stephens, the Jeanneau Cup, and for June 2018 a one class regatta for the bestselling Sun Odyssey 349.
Another European company, Selden Mast based in Sweden chose to support the Ice Breaker series at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club and is the naming rights sponsor of the Ice Breaker Series. The 2018 Selden for Sailing Ice Breaker Winter Series is a fantastic opportunity for centreboard (OTB) sailors, young and old, to get out on the waters of Pittwater to race over the winter months.
The Series is hosted by The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club and has been held for over 10 years. Originally a two day regatta, it was developed into a four round series in 2010 over May, June, July and August, with each round seeing up to 150 competitors.
Staying in Europe, the German boat builder Bavaria is now in self administration. To clarify this, self-administration means the executive management has full legal authority and wages and salaries will be secured until June 2018 using insolvency compensation. Restructuring expert Dr. Tobias Brinkmann from Brinkmann & Partner joins the executive management. The goal of the process is to implement an investor solution. The shipyard operations will continue seamlessly over the next few months. The delivery season is currently in full swing, so that it will be possible to process a large order backlog over the coming month.
Closer to home a strong contingent of Australian companies representing a cross section of the Australian superyacht industry attended the Asia Pacific Superyacht Conference, joined by Lhamo Johnson Senior Marketing & Sales Coordinator and Barry Jenkins Chairman of Superyacht Australia. The Asia Pacific Superyacht Conference was held last week just prior to the Singapore Yacht Show and saw key stakeholders from all parts of the world, join for two days to listen and discuss the issues facing the Asian superyacht industry.
Finally if you are looking for something to do this weekend and you live in Sydney the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club are hosting Pittwater Sail Expo over the two days 28th and 29th April 2018, 10am – 4pm. Among the exhibitors will be Performance Cruising Yachts who will displaying a brand new Dufour 412 and a racy Elan E5.
