The 2018 Laser Midwinters East took place last month in Clearwater, Florida, attracting over 147 competitors from all over North America for the 10-race series from February 22nd to the 25th. Over the four days of racing sailors were met with difficult and puffy conditions resulting in an overall challenging regatta.

Laser Radial sailor Tayte Stefaniuk from RNSYS / DOSC placed 9, ranking highest Canadian finish in this fleet of 93 boats. "Clearwater was a great venue with a high level of completion and tricky conditions. What an honour to sail in the same fleet as an Olympian and be in the same boat park with so many amazing sailors. I had a decent regatta and was pleased to finish top Canadian. But there is definitely loads of learning ahead of me."

A big shoutout to all the Canadian sailors who attended this event!

Congratulations to the Helly Hansen Sailor of the Month - Tayte Stefaniuk.
