Albacore Nationals at Swanage Sailing Club - Day 2

The fleet now grown to 32 entries found a stiff Force 5 for the first of three races on Saturday.

Current International Champions Chris Turner & Simon Maguire led the race from start to finish with Orlando Gledhill and John Frairy second and Andy Barker third. In an equally-breezy second race American Albacore champions Barney Harris and David Byrom led all the way round with Orlando and John enjoying a swim at the Gybe mark to let Chris and Simon through into second place.

The wind moderated for the final race of the day with Orlando and John storming away into the lead and Barney and Dave second with Andy Barker third. Veteran John Herbert (a past International and National champion) was 4th.

With 2 races to come on Sunday the Championships is a three horse race with Barney and Dave currently leading, Orlando & John second and Chris and Simon third. Lighter winds are forecast for Sunday, so whoever masters those conditions will win the Championships.
