Aurelius Development Invest GmbH, a 100-% subsidiary of Munich's Aurelius AG, published a voluntary, public takeover bid for the shareholders of HanseYachts AG 9 September 2011.

HanseYachts AG was founded in 1990, and in the past 21 years has firmly established itself in the market as the third-largest production-line manufacturer of sailing yachts worldwide. Since going public in March 2007, the shares of HanseYachts AG have been listed on the General Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. In fiscal year 2010/2011 (as at 31 July 2011) the enterprise had turnover of EUR 86.0 million.

As a result of economic circumstances, HanseYachts has had to report negative results for the last three fiscal years. Thanks to the overall economic recovery and successful introduction of new and innovative models, HanseYachts has nevertheless been able once again to gain significant additional market share and to improve its results for fiscal year 2010/2011. With the active support of Aurelius in the future, continued significant improvement in business operations is expected.

In addition to the main brand, Hanse, and thanks to having taken over such traditional brands as Dehler and Moody, HanseYachts has a strong portfolio of brands with clearly defined and targeted customer groups. Moreover, HanseYachts also produces motorboats under the Fjord brand, which cover an exclusive niche segment of the market. Thanks to extensive investments in recent years, HanseYachts owns state-of-the-art production facilities in Germany and Poland.

Hanse’s Michael Schmidt said, 'Aurelius is the right investor at the right point in time. The attractive market for sailboats currently offers excellent opportunities for growth. I will continue to be available to this company in an advisory capacity.'

'It’s a great product. HanseYachts numbers among the gems in German boat manufacturing. By setting the right course, we will make this high-tech enterprise competitive for international markets,' added Gert Purkert, a board member at Aurelius AG.
